Camellias Sharna's Yard

We visited Sharna yesterday in Wilmington, NC and here are some of the camellias from her yard. Also went to Airlie Gardens another post will be upcoming on that, OK two posts.

Camellias right now are just starting so these images are just a sample of what is to come in the weeks ahead. Most all the bushes we saw had slightly browned out buds from frost. It will only get better from here.

See the brown spots that is from frost, this was the first bloom to open on this Camellia, lovely no doubt.
Very double and two colors, mixed red and white seem to be the theme for early camellias.
Perfect rose bud, this is a huge bush in the corner of the yard.

First daffodil of the season from Airlie Gardens. I'm sure there are well over 300 mature camellias at least 80 years old at Airlie. In about 3 weeks the camellias should be really full of blooms, the azaleas in 6 weeks or so and the camellias will still be going strong too.

Looks like the Bluebird crocus will open up today here in our garden.  Saw a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker near the suet this morning, hoping it would become a visitor to the feeders as I do not have a photos of it either. The hanging feeders were empty nearly all week, not seen even one Goldfinch yet.

I plan on working in the garden as it'll reach 60 today.

The Camellias are beautiful. Mine have bud freeze/burn. We are planting a bunch of bulbs I just got....we shall see how well they do!
Talked to the person who sold me the Anemones, she said to soak them overnight and to wait until the ground warms up to plant them. Ordinarily they can be planted in the fall, but since I got them in the winter, to wait. Let's compare notes later.

It's so exciting to see people posting flowers now. I know it's just the beginning but it's so fun. These camellias are so pretty! I wish I had more space for a few more. Love the daffodil! They remind me of little suns.

Walking to the dog park yesterday (in 73 degree air!) I noticed that several of the neighborhood japonicas are blooming, our first. No daffodils yet, but soon.
