Looking back at summer

This summer I traveled to Ohio as my nephew was getting married. I just happened to stop a few places on my way back. One of my ancestors was involved in the Ohio Erie Canal, he likely was the driving force to get it built. So we have been contracting a long time in my family so to speak. His crews might have built Lock 48 shown below. Not much of the canal remains these days. It is hard to believe this tiny lock had so much commerce going though it.
Lock 48 on the Ohio Erie Canal in southern Ohio.
Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
My timing was pretty good, but the bright sun kept coming and going, waited for a cloud to cover everything for maybe 20 minutes. The sun was still hitting the roofs of the mill.

What pretty views! I especially love the mill photos with the purple flowering bush and the reflection in the water.

What fun to see the Lock. I have never been up to the Erie Canal, the first photo was very interesting. I also like the shot of the mill and the purple flowers.

The rhododendron is splendid! What a beautiful shot. And that lock sure is small to move boats.

Getting our first snow right now! Coming down pretty heavy and so far covering barely a quarter inch. The glass cold frame is all white right now.

To give prespective on the lock, it is about 6 ft deep (2 meters).

Your pictures of the Mabry Mill are just beautiful. I love seeing the reflection of the mill in the water. Here in Hocking county they are trying to get the canal started again and later give tourists rides on it to Nelsonville.

That's cool about your ancestors and the canal. Your mill photos look like they should be on postcards or in frames. I love them! The first of the two is my favorite.
