Chanterelle cibarius these are one of the most famous edible mushrooms in the world. And to find them right here in paradise. We have also found a few Morels in the spring and Oyster Mushrooms can be found in large numbers on rotting tulip poplars.

I don't think I've ever seen Chanterelles. Always makes me think of the character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer who came up with the name Chanterelle for herself. lol
Brave man, I trust you are as well schooled in mushrooms as you are in butterflies and dragonflies.
Enjoy! They look like chantrelles to me, and I went mushroom hunting a lot as a kid. And if worst comes to worst, there's actually nothing very poisonous that looks like a chantrelle. So, no worries.
(I like them sauteed in butter with a little thyme).
I generally don't like the look of mushrooms because I've seen ugly ones most of the times in my aunt's garden, but this one looks very pretty.
Also to me, the taste of the mushroom isn't mouth-watering wither. How does this one taste? Just the normal mushroom taste?

When I had back surgery many years ago I got a good mushroom book and wandered the woods while I recovered finding and IDing mushrooms.

The store mushrooms are kind of bland, these should have lots of flavor and these would be about 8-10 times more expensive than the standard store mushrooms.
They taste great with cream sauce and on toast. Enjoy.....

We enjoyed eating the chanterelle mushrooms they were yummy. Sauteed them in margarine with thyme from the garden. Might have to good find another batch of them in the woods.
What zone are you in to find chanterelles? I envy you. And thanks for your comment on my blog.
I love mushrooms......I wish I had the confidence to know the difference between them and toadstools.
Living in a damp area and bordering woods I get a lot of fungi in the garden....many I am sure would be delicious, but I am not going there....
