My second try on another honey bee, this time with the camellia flower in the sun. Listen to the sound you can hear the neighbors rooster calling and the Spring Peepers calling from our pond. Also note how peaceful it is here.

I want to tell you about the three large blue clay pots I bought at Ollie's on Guess Rd for a total of $50. The big one was $19, the middle one $13 and the one on the chair was $9. For those of you that live near by Durham, NC. If you want huge clay pots for your garden they have a lot of them. These are made in Vietnam, I seen much better pots for a lot more money, but at these prices a steal.
The purple chairs are kitchen chairs made of maple, I picked them up at the free shed a while back, there was 5 of them, others got the rest before I could get them. Want to find a place for these in the garden, still searching for that place. I am very tempted to cut holes in the seats of these chairs and drop pots in them.
Always a thrill to see the pollinators at work! Wow! What a deal on those pots! Love the color too. Have you decided what you will put in them yet?
ReplyDeleteKarin,
ReplyDeleteSo far the biggest pot we plan on putting next to a tree to the right of the photo in the hellebore garden, planting likely 3 hellebores in it. The middle sized one were at planting a Daphne in it.
Love all the color with the pots and the chairs.
ReplyDeleteBusy bees!
ReplyDeleteI have a few Vietnamese pots too. Affordable and attractive!
A Daphne in the pot. Good idea. They do get big.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing the bee loading her pollen sacks...how cool.
Our Spring Peepers are singing too....we have a rooster at the farm up the road that we can hear too.
:-)
Love the chairs and those blue pots are really pretty.
Those bees are happy to have flowers blooming there! No bees around here yet.
ReplyDeleteLove the pots and purple chairs!
oof, I think I got those pots from southern states for quite a bit more a few years ago. Haven't been to Ollie's, I should stop by there.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize the bees would relish the camellias so much! I suspect you're seeing a lot of pollen coming into your hives at the moment as the bees build up for spring. I can't believe how active our colonies are at the moment. We need to get our second hive split soon. I heard of the first area swarm this weekend, so we don't have much time to get it done!
ReplyDeleteThose were both wonderful videos. You did an excellent job. I'm glad you told us to listen for the rooster and peepers. Your place sounds most serene and peaceful-I wish mine was a quiet! Those purple chairs are great. Maybe you could build a little patio by your glass wall for them? Or set them on your deck? They look too good to cut up. Especially since they are made of maple.
ReplyDeleteThose look like happy bees. Great idea to pot the Daphne, they do seem to have better odds that way.
ReplyDeleteTons of honeybees here working the flowers, along with a few early native bees.
Randy, I would never have thought I would enjoy seeing and hearing a video of a bee combing a camellia! What fun and I love the sounds of the rooster and peepers. You have so much happening there now, while we are still snow coated. Last night was 6F degrees! Great pots! I do not know about putting pots in the chairs though.
ReplyDeleteLove the purple chairs! I like the idea of putting pots in the seats; would be a good place to grow herbs near a kitchen door.
